Alison Redfern has dedicated her career to special educational needs, gaining experience in Post-16 settings, mainstream secondary schools, and special schools. She has taught across the four key stages, with a particular focus on Key Stage 4 and GCSE teaching.

Alison holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education, specialising in Addressing Difficulties in Literacy Development. This qualification enables her to conduct formal assessments and submit applications to examination boards, ensuring that Exam Access Arrangements are in place for individual pupils.

She also obtained the National Award for SEN Coordination. In her role as SENCO, Alison managed annual EHCP reviews for pupils and worked closely with various agencies to provide the appropriate level of support.

As a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE), Alison participated as a Specialist Partner in the LENS project, a school improvement initiative aimed at enhancing outcomes for pupils with SEND in mainstream settings.

Most recently, Alison served as an Assistant Head/SENDCo at an all-needs Special School.
